College Park Eye Care opened in December of 2016 at 720 Rugby Street in the heart of College Park. Dr. Armesto is a one-person business owner who books the appointments, verifi es the insurance and, of course, examines the patients. Armesto and her hus- band live in College Park. “I wanted to be a small- business owner and serve the community I live in,” she said. So when the space became available on Rugby Street, she jumped at the opportunity to open her own practice. Speaking with Dr. Armesto, one can sense her passion for eye care. Th e College Park Paper was given a tour of the new offi ce space, whic included a detailed expla- nation for each machine’s purpose. Preventative medicine is a tenet of the business. A sensor registers the movement of the treadmill, which will activate the motor and continue as long as you keep walking. Th e bike has a 42-mile range on a single charge of the rechargeable battery. Its top speed is 15 mph. Available accessories include a basket, saddlebags and a trailer for children, pets or groceries. Located at 2300 Edgewater Drive (the back of Gallery on the Edge), owner Jeff Noonan says the store is currently in a soft opening and people can schedule demo rides and or purchase existing stock. Noonan says there are only about 120 Lopifi t bikes in the United States at this time. Th e store is planning a grand opening in mid to late March.
